Totally awesome. I just love cheese sandwiches. And I do care what you had for lunch too. (I might want to cook it myself.)

Did the chicken in pita have cheese?
That Welsh Rarebit however takes the prize of ooziest cheese savory. Love the photo.

Kalyn,

I understand Pete Wells point about not being particularly interested in some random person's lunch, but as I think these photos (and the articles that accompanied them show) even something as apparently mundane as a sandwich can be both beautiful to look upon and can offer insights into not only food and cooking but also offer insights in things other than the obvious.

Anne,

It's hard to beat a good sandwich.

Mila,

Nope. The recipe is here: http://seriouslygood.kdweeks.com/2005/09/chicken-in-pita.html

Agreed, m'dear. I didn't even post (repost, actually) my sardine sandwich or my beans on toast (with cheese!). We all learn from one another, and we'd be fools to stop teaching and learning.

Those who hate cheese sandwiches simply lack imagination. Cause those are some downright tempting sandwiches! I am reminded o how long it's been since I had a reuben...or a calzone. Or a chicken pita, for that matter.

CC,

When I lived in Egypt our cook used to comment to my mother, "That Mister Kevin, he like the sardines too much."

KM,

I'd like to do a book on sandwiches. Made with care and thought they can be seriously good eating.

Dude! *Picking up jaw from ground*

Since you'd lived in Egypt before, you'd understand when I say "Aiwa!"

The Reuben looked so lurid that I seriously had an embarrassing moment there just looking at it! Now I am having major cheese sammich anxiety for my post tomorrow.

I admit that I seldom have sandwiches in Singapore because there is such a plethora of food here that I find myself trying to explore all the different local or regional food instead. Cheese Sammich Day is really making me revisit an old and dear friend.
